Stance
Determine the specimen’s best ‘side.’ Stare. Begin a rough sketch. Muse. Does this angle tell the story? If not, toss the sketch and begin again. It’s just a sketch after all.
Specimen Boss
Work up the sketch and then stick with it. When drawing from a live specimen, it will turn, droop, unfurl, etc. If you continue to erase and begin again under the whims of the specimen, you will learn a lot about the specimen [a good thing] but not get far along on your project [NOT a good thing].
